We offer students of all ages authentic training in Traditional Japanese and Okinawan Martial Arts directly from the source. All of our instructors are adult black belts, certified in Japan.

We have been serving the Stafford and
Fredericksburg area for 20 years. Our
classes are affordable featuring qualified
educators and no contracts.

We appreciate your visit to the web-site and
look forward to your visit to the dojo. FREE
introductory classes are always available.

AKK Shin Dojo is recognized in Japan. Our
staff travels to Japan yearly to enhance their
skills.

The dojo and staff members serve as regional
and national representatives to several Japan
based organizations. We are the only dojo in
Virginia and one of only a handful outside
of Japan offering the martial arts available to
our students. This can only be achieved
through years of adherence to strict tradition
and understanding of Japanese etiquette.
If this sounds like something you or your
family would like to be a part of, please come by,
call, or drop us an email.

Our schedule is available HERE.

Please take a look at our Monthly
NEWSLETTER to get a taste of what
we have to offer.

Student and Parent Guide to Martial Arts
THE TRUTH
  • The black belt club is a trick to get you to sign a multi- year contract.
  • There is no such thing as a 10 year old second degree black belt
  • There is no such thing as a "Professional Martial Artist". For a fee, you can be one, too.
  • Patches and multi-colored uniforms are a marketing tool.
  • Most "McDojos" play martial arts, but have no ground in traditional Japanese martial arts.
  • We are Stafford and Fredericksburg's longest running full time martial arts establishment. We are the most qualified and most educated instructors in the field. We charge $74/ month. The entire family trains for $125. This is no reflection of the service or the quality of instruction...it is simply what is right.
  • Do you want to train with people whose focus is to get you to sign on the dotted line, charge hundreds of dollars a month, and mask their retention marketing tools behind such nonsense as a "black belt club?"
  • Respect, Discipline, and Confidence are not marketing catch phrases nor should they be a topic in the latest issue of "Karate Professional" magazine (right next to the article where school owners brag about how much money they make). Respect, Discipline, and Confidence are the product of years of dedication to a tradition.
  • It would help if a studio owner had actually been to Japan.

For 20 years, studios have come and gone in the Stafford area. With them came the fads: The ninja craze, Tae Bo, Cardio Kickboxing, Ninja Turtles, Little Dragons, Power Rangers, and now, after school programs, black belt clubs, Professional Martial Arts Associations, XMA, MMA, and the Ultimate...whatever.

But through all of this, one things remains steady. Our Dojo and our pursuit of excellence in the ancient martial arts of Japan.

Come in and find out why, when students get bored at all of the fad oriented studios that look exciting from the outside, they end up at our door. We welcome everyone with open arms so that you can begin actually learning something about history, culture, the arts, and yourselves.
